What is Care for Coffee...?

Care for Coffee...is a new campaign to celebrate 30 years of specialist nursing care and support at Michael Sobell House (MSH), a hospice for people with terminal illnesses, based at Mount Vernon Hospital in Northwood. Care for Coffee... is a cascading coffee campaign working within the community and involves each supporter to:

  • attend a coffee morning
  • make a £5 donation
  • host a further coffee morning (inviting one less person than the level before)

Joe Sandercock, Chairman of MSH Hospice "My wife and I are delighted to be involved in promoting such a positive and enjoyable fundraising campaign within our community, particularly in view of the fact that all the money raised from it will be directly allocated into our Outreach at Home service."

Steve Grudgings, Head of Fundraising "Cumulatively this campaign has the potential to involve over 9,000 people within our community and beyond who, as well as supporting this initiative, will become aware of the outstanding services available to the public offered by Michael Sobell House hospice."

Each team will be named after a coffee bean and progress of all teams will be tracked on this website throughout our 30th anniversary year.

What is Care for Coffee... going to achieve?

Aiming to raise over £48,000 all proceeds from Care for Coffee... will be directed into supporting six months running costs to fund the hospice's Outreach at Home service to extend its specialist nursing directly inside the community and into people's own homes.

Ursula Leary, Lead Nurse "In the hospice we pride ourselves on delivering high levels of quality care which we endeavour to tailor to the needs and wishes of each patient." "Through our relatively new Outreach at Home service we have extended our capacity beyond the actual hospice building itself, and I am thrilled that we are now able to nurse and support terminally ill patients in their own homes, in accordance with their own personal wishes. Care for Coffee... is a direct way of supporting this service and enables it to extend its work with patients - and their families - at home."
