Press Release
On Wednesday 4th April, as part of Michael Sobell House’s 30th Anniversary celebrations a new campaign, Care for Coffee… was launched to raise awareness of the hospice and highlight the need to raise funds for its Outreach at Home service. The Outreach nurses are calling for coffee drinkers to come forward and start coffee teams in support of this community campaign.
The aim of Care for Coffee… , which is a cascading team initiative, is to raise £48,000 which will provide six months’ funding for the hospices’s Outreach at Home Service. Joe Sandercock, currently Chairman of The Friends of Michael Sobell House said, “Care for Coffee… is going to be a highly sociable campaign, and all the proceeds raised from it will bring direct benefits to patients in the delivery of this exceptional and vital hospice service which is helping families in our community every day in the privacy of their own homes.”
Ursula O’Leary, Lead Nurse at Michael Sobell House said, “In our palliative care centre we pride ourselves on delivering high quality nursing both inside the hospice itself and, through our Outreach at Home service, directly in people’s own homes. I hope that people reading about our invaluable and sensitive work will feel moved to help by organising coffee mornings in aid of the hospice’s Outreach at Home service.”
Kim Hurd who is married to Nick Hurd MP of Ruislip-Northwood said “I am looking forward to starting my own Coffee team and I am delighted to support this worthwhile campaign, I look forward to getting started.”
