It’s never too late to use those creative skills.
Kathleen Mannering, a regular visitor to the Michael
Sobell Hospice Art Therapy Centre had never painted
before and now has two oil paintings on display at the
Hospice and is busy working on her third.
Art Therapy is one of the services offered to patients
in the Day Therapies Unit and thanks to a donation of
£1000 from local water company Three Valleys Water
the unit will be able to purchase more materials and
equipment for their enthusiastic artists.
Joe Sandercock, Chairman of Friends of Michael Sobell
House said “We are extremely grateful to Three
Valleys Water for their donation to the art therapy
service which is provided for patients by our Arts Co-ordinator
Nicole Weinberger and her dedicated team of volunteers.
Patients are encouraged to express their emotions in
a non verbal way and release their creative potential.
Taking part in the Art sessions can have very therapeutic
properties for patients and also provides an opportunity
for them to meet socially”.
Ian Brenkley, Customer Services Director, Three Valleys
Water visited the Unit and met with some of the patients
during their art class. Ian added “The standard
of the work is very high, I am pleased that we have
been able to come along and see first hand, how this
donation to help our community is being used.”
Michael Sobell House is a hospice and specialist Palliative
Care unit situated in the grounds of Mount Vernon Hospital,
Northwood. It focuses on improving the quality of life
for patients by providing relief from pain and distressing
