Toes were tapping and tea was being sipped on Saturday afternoon in the gardens of Michael Sobell House at the ‘Jazz on the Lawn’ fundraising concert, which raised almost £2,000.00 for the hospice and specialist palliative care centre based at Mount Vernon Hospital.
An audience of over 100 people enjoyed the sounds of the St. John’s Jazz Band whilst a sumptuous English tea was served with a selection of sandwiches and homemade cakes. The event is part of a lively and diverse calendar of fundraising activities organised by the fundraising department of Michael Sobell House, the Hospice and Specialist Palliative Care Centre.
Commenting on the event, Ophelia Chambers-Henry Community Events and Fundraising Manager, “This is the second year we have hosted ‘Jazz on the Lawn’ and it has been a wonderful afternoon. It would not be possible without the support of our volunteers; it takes a lot of preparation and organisation but the hard work is well worth it. St. John’s Jazz band sounded terrific and we would also like to thank the students from Merchant Taylors and St. Helen’s school who volunteered to help set up and serve the tea!”.
The next big fundraising event for Michael Sobell House Hospice is the Annual Sponsored Walk on 20th September, free registration is open now, to find our more visit www.michaelsobellhouse.co.uk and help raise vital funds for Michael Sobell House.
