Clash of the Choirs was the MSH offering to the Voices for Hospices celebrations. Five choirs took to the stage at the Rowland Brown Hall of St. Helen’s School, Northwood on Saturday night to take part in ‘Clash of the Choirs’ a fundraising concert, which raised more than £5,500.00 for the charity based at Mount Vernon Hospital.
Local choirs Capital Connection, Chorleywood Choral Society, Harrow Harmony, Lemon Tuesday and Jubilate all performed to the packed out audience of over 400, who then voted to nominate the choir of their choice. The vote count took the two choirs with the most votes to perform in a ‘clash’, Lemon Tuesday (the smallest choir) and Jubilate (one of the largest). They each performed their ‘clash’ song and the audience held up coloured markers to vote for the winner. Waving, cheering and votes flapping, the scene was reminiscent to that of ‘Last Night at the Prom’s’, less the National Anthem, and the clear winner was Jubilate.
Commenting on the event, David Mosely Business Manager at Michael Sobell House Hospice; “What a night; Jubilate made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up as they sang. We are delighted with how successful this concert has been and hugely appreciate the time and effort the choirs have made to perform completely free of charge. Not only have we raised a tremendous amount towards patient care at Michael Sobell House, we also had over 400 smiling faces that enjoyed a wonderful evening.”
The next fundraising events for Michael Sobell House Hospice include the Halloween Quiz and Gift Fayre, to find our more visit www.michaelsobellhouse.co.uk and help raise vital funds for Michael Sobell House.
