| As you walk into Michael Sobell
House our Reception team are there to greet you. Beside the
reception area is a picture board with all the photos of our
friendly & helpful team, so that no one is a stranger to
you. |

& Dining Room |
The lounge & dining room area is an
open plan space with many comfortable sofas and chairs for patients
and their families to relax. There is also a television within
the lounge areas, so families can keep up to date with current
events or their favourite soaps.
The family lounge is another area where patients and their families
can relax. There are also many toys for visiting children to
play with. |

Kitchen |
| A daily menu is available, also taking
into consideration dietary requirements Volunteers are always
on hand to provide cups of tea, coffee and a friendly smile. |

| Day
Care Centre |
| The day centre is a relaxing environment
where Day Patients receive symptom control, clinical treatment,
counselling and complementary therapies. In addition creative
arts, crafts and outdoor activities are offered and enjoyed
here. The centre is open Tuesday to Friday between 9.30am and
3.30pm and on Monday there are reserved times available for
patients and their carers between 10am and 3.30pm |

| Chapel |
|
|
There is a small Chapel in Michael Sobell
House which can be used by patients and relatives for quiet
reflection and prayer. A short 30-minute Christian Service is
held in the main Hospital Chapel every Sunday at 11am. Patients
who wish to attend will be collected and returned by a dedicated
team of volunteers. |

| Gardens |
The beautiful gardens adjacent to Michael
Sobell House provide fantastic views over magnificent local
countryside, as well as a much needed quiet area for patients
and families to enjoy. The gardens are lovingly maintained by
our team of hardworking volunteers who have also won awards
for their achievements.

| The Education Department
at Michael Sobell House is committed to improving multiprofessional
palliative care through a variety of ways including short reflective
sessions, symposia's, 1/2 day and full day workshops as well
as contributing to the oncology and palliative care degree programmes
at the University of Herefordshire. In 2004/5 we had approximately
2000 attendees from a variety of settings including mulitprofessionals
from hospital, hospice and the commuity, as well as volunteers
and other parties with an interest in specialist palliative
